They used to make such great socks! Good quality at a good price. I've used them exclusively for quite a number of years, particularly because they provide extended sizes (I wear a women's 9 1/2 or 10) and because the seam over the toes has always been very flat, not lumpy, and my toes are sensitive to the pressure of a lumpy seam pressing on them.The last batch of Gold Toe "Bermuda"style that I bought a couple of years ago in the extended size were just way too small and had a thick seam - not at all like the ones I'd been buying for years. I was so disappointed with them. But I thought I'd give Gold Toe one last chance and tried this style of Gold Toe in hopes they'd be bigger than the Bermuda style. They're not. They're very, very small. They're a thin sock -- that's ok -- but they have a lot of stretch to them. If it weren't for that stretch, I'd never be able to get them on. To save money? Now they're either using LESS yarn OR a LESS quality yarn - it's no longer as stretchy and now they've ALSO put this dumb seam across the toe.The sock that used to be comfortable, easy to put on is now hard to put on and not at all as comfortable. I'm also betting that this yarn change will cause the sock to wear out sooner! If their intent was to save money, then they've shot themselves in the FOOT. I will look for some other brands from now on. Won't waste money on these GOLD TOES extended sizes.
